Forestville Bicentennial UPDATE

Friday Night

  • Friday night is music and a “street dance” held at the beer and wine tent on Academy St.
  • Three classes are planning their social get together around that event.

Saturday

  • Saturday inside the elementary school there will be a display of Forestville History and antique items from the area.
  • Crafters will be set up from 10-5 at the elementary school
  • Saturday 11 AM there is a children’s parade starting at the firehall, marching down Chestnut St., up Main, around the mall, then up Park St. and ending at the festival grounds. Anyone interested in participating should contact Amy Rebmann.
  • Saturday at Noon, the Fire Dept. is having a chicken BBQ at the fire hall on Chestnut St.
  • Saturday at 3 PM there is a Wild West Show somewhere near the festival grounds on Academy St.
  • Art show and tea at the Catholic rec. hall on Center St.
  • All day Saturday there are activities planned for the children at the festival grounds on Academy behind the Methodist church East side of grounds.
  • Saturday night First Place Kareoke will be providing entertainment down by the beer and wine tent, Academy St on West side of grounds.

Sunday

  • Crafters will be set up from 10-5 at the elementary school
  • Sunday, people will have plenty of time to hit the crafters and amusements before the parade that begins at noon.  The parade route begins at the Legion on Cedar St., proceeds to Chestnut St on to Main St, down Pearl St and Center St and ends at the Legion.
  • After the parade, there are more children’s events planned, including pony rides from 2-4. An Antique Road Show at the elementary school (dig out those treasures and have them appraised for $5 each) Vendors, Crafters and amusements through out the day.

Misc

  • Amusements and vendors will be set up on Academy St all weekend.
  • The Village “folks” are encouraged to decorate their homes patriotic or 1800’s for a house decorating contest, so people should stroll around the village and check these out and the historic homes marked with circa signs.  People are also encouraged to wear period clothing for a contest. And guys get those beards and sideburns growing for a contest.
