Forestville Bicentennial is July 11,12, & 13 update.

The Forestville Bicentennial is July 11,12, & 13.  We will open the festivities Friday night with a “street dance”.  Saturday is a Kids parade.  Children can dress up, decorate their bikes, wagons, pets, doll buggies, and march down Main Steet.  Adults can pull floats with tractors, but NO motorized vehicles driven by children (mini bkes, 4 wheelers, etc…) There are many more events planned for the weekend and times and locations of events will be available May 1st.  Sunday is the big parade.  There is also period era dress contests, beard and sideburn contests,and house decorating. A chicken BBQ is planned by the fire department on Saturday.
Again, the events calender will be available after May 1st.

Forestville Bicentennial UPDATE

Friday Night

  • Friday night is music and a “street dance” held at the beer and wine tent on Academy St.
  • Three classes are planning their social get together around that event.

Saturday

  • Saturday inside the elementary school there will be a display of Forestville History and antique items from the area.
  • Crafters will be set up from 10-5 at the elementary school
  • Saturday 11 AM there is a children’s parade starting at the firehall, marching down Chestnut St., up Main, around the mall, then up Park St. and ending at the festival grounds. Anyone interested in participating should contact Amy Rebmann.
  • Saturday at Noon, the Fire Dept. is having a chicken BBQ at the fire hall on Chestnut St.
  • Saturday at 3 PM there is a Wild West Show somewhere near the festival grounds on Academy St.
  • Art show and tea at the Catholic rec. hall on Center St.
  • All day Saturday there are activities planned for the children at the festival grounds on Academy behind the Methodist church East side of grounds.
  • Saturday night First Place Kareoke will be providing entertainment down by the beer and wine tent, Academy St on West side of grounds.

Sunday

  • Crafters will be set up from 10-5 at the elementary school
  • Sunday, people will have plenty of time to hit the crafters and amusements before the parade that begins at noon.  The parade route begins at the Legion on Cedar St., proceeds to Chestnut St on to Main St, down Pearl St and Center St and ends at the Legion.
  • After the parade, there are more children’s events planned, including pony rides from 2-4. An Antique Road Show at the elementary school (dig out those treasures and have them appraised for $5 each) Vendors, Crafters and amusements through out the day.

Misc

  • Amusements and vendors will be set up on Academy St all weekend.
  • The Village “folks” are encouraged to decorate their homes patriotic or 1800’s for a house decorating contest, so people should stroll around the village and check these out and the historic homes marked with circa signs.  People are also encouraged to wear period clothing for a contest. And guys get those beards and sideburns growing for a contest.

FORESTVILLE NY, BICENTENNNIAL CELEBRATION JULY 11,12,13 2008

This is a coming event in FORESTVILLE NY, BICENTENNNIAL CELEBRATION JULY 11,12,13 2008. Here are some of the events and dates. FRIDAY NIGHT, ROCK AND ROLL music on stage and a “street dance” held at the beer and wine tent on Academy St. CONCESSIONS AND AMUSEMENTS will be set up.
I know class reunions are planning their social get together around that event.
SAT JULY 12 AND SUNDAY JULY 13 CRAFTERS will be set up from 10-5.(no flea market booths) any one interested call 716-532-6686 ext3. Prime spaces still available.
SATURDAY, JULY 12 there is an ART SHOW AND TEA at the Catholic recreation hall on Center St.
SATURDAY MORNING the fire department is hosting demonstrations for the children before their 11 AM CHILDRENS PARADE starting at the firehall (on Chestnut St) , marching down Chestnut St., up Main, around the mall, then up Park St.ending at the festival grounds on Academy St.  This parade is open to all children.  They can dress up, decorate their bikes or wagons (no motorized vechicles) Any one interested in participating should contact Amy Rebmann 716-965-9719, although registration in NOT necessary.
After the kids parade,MAGIC SHOW, FACE PAINTING, PETTING ZOO,BOUNCE HOUSES, GAMES and much more are set up at festival grounds. AMUSEMENTS, FOOD VENDORS, AND CRAFTERS will be set up on Academy St all weekend. FORESTVILLE BICENTENNAL COLLECTIBLES AND MERCHANDISE on sale all weekend.
SATURDAY AT NOON, the Fire Dept. is having a CHICKEN BBQ at the fire hall on Chestnut St.

SATURDAY EVENING-FORESTVILLE HISTORY SLIDE SHOW at the Catholic recreational hall on Center St.
SATURDAY, from 4-7 pm THE BIG BAND will be providing entertainment, from 7:30-10:30 pm SVR ENTERTAINMENT with DJ Keith Burns will be spinning the tunes on the stage, down by the beer and wine tent, Academy St.
The Village “folks” are encouraged to decorate their homes patriotic or 1800’s for a HOUSE DECORATING CONTEST, so people should stroll around the village and check these out and the historic homes marked with circa signs.  People are also incouraged to wear PERIOD CLOTHING  for a contest. And guys get those BEARDS AND SIDEBURNS growing for a contest.
SUNDAY JULY 13, people will have plenty of time to hit the crafters and amusements before the PARADE that begins at 1 O’CLOCK.  The parade route begins at the Legion on Cedar St., proceeds down Chestnut St on to Main St.
AFTER THE PARADE, there are more childrens events planned, including PONY RIDES from  2-4. MUSIC from 2-5pm by DVR entertainment on stage. An ANTIQUE ROAD SHOW (dig out those treasures and have them appraised for $5 each) AMUSEMENTS, VENDORS AND CRAFTERS will be set up until 5 PM. Old Timers baseball game at Legion. Village of Forestville 2008 Bicentennial, July 7-11, 2008

Village of Forestville 2008 Bicentennial, July 7-11, 2008

To those not aware, the village of Forestville will be celebrating its 200th year in existence in 2008. The Bicentennial committie will be heading up this event and they are looking for volunteers.

Planning for such an event takes time, people and resources so any and all help will be greatly appreciated!
